"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

Members of our community share what what it means for them to tithe.

Who do I trust? What do I give my attention and energy toward? What does that have to do with tithes and offerings?

Sharing a portion of what we earn or receive, regularly, generously, and joyfully, is a tool to help us worship God well. It frees us from fear and a scarcity outlook on life.

When we share with others a portion of what God has entrusted to us, we are freed and our neighbors have their needs met. That is the purpose of offerings in church.

Martin Luther taught "Jesus does not need your good works, your neighbor does."

So, as a faith practice, we encourage you to share with St. John's Lutheran Church. We will use what you share to bless others. But, what we encourage the most is regular, generous and joyful sharing somewhere, anywhere. Just share.
